What does it take to come to Christ?
God is a seeker of
hearts, desiring to become a part of our lives through prayer;
He wants us to
make our decisions in a way that blesses us and blesses others.
We are the
beloved of our Creator who will not ask more of us than we are able
to give. His
support will provide strength and empowerment to help us become
all we can be in
this life.
Throughout the Bible God inspires us to believe all
mistakes—all sins—are forgiven, erased from our pasts once we repent of them.
Repentance sees us turning away from behaviors that are harmful to ourselves
and to others.
The Scripture passages listed below offer help for
letting go of past mistakes and failures. These passages will grant assurance of
forgiveness. Only the Bible, known to believers as “the Word of God,” can make
it possible for us to accept the truth that we can be free from our past. God
grants forgives when we ask for it. You can count on these passages from the
Bible being true for your life:
Isaiah
1:18 - “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD,
“Though your sins are like scarlet they shall be as white as snow; though they
are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”
Psalms
103: 11-14 - “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, as far
as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our
transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so
the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we
are formed, he remembers that we are dust.” (NIV translation.)
John
3:16 - “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Psalms
71:6 - "By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who
took me out of my mother's womb. My praise will be continually of you.”
Prayer: In
your own words, ask to be forgiven. Tell the Lord Jesus you want His help and
His guidance going forward. Add anything else that you want to say. You are
loved and your words are valuable to our Lord.
God helps us "climb higher" as we stretch
ourselves on this amazing journey of becoming all God knew we could be at the
moment of our conception.
Be sure to tell a friend or other loved one
about your decision based on Romans 10:9-10, “ . . . if you confess with your mouth
the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto
righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Buy a Bible or ask a friend or a pastor for one. Keep
reading it. Your soul will thrill as you find many more assuring Biblical
passages. As you read the Bible your faith will grow as well as your
understanding. Daily reading of Scripture is what keeps us on track with
our efforts to truly let go of the past and live solidly in the present knowing
God is with us and loves us.
There are many more assuring Biblical passages. As you

Scripture daily is what keeps us on track with our efforts to truly let go the
past and live solidly in the present. Our quest to grow as a
Christian lasts throughout life. God helps us "climb higher" as
we stretch ourselves on this amazing journey of becoming all God knew we could
be at the moment of our conception.
For sure life is full of temptations. We will make
mistakes. When you stumble or fall, God will help you get up, He will fortify
you when you ask for forgiveness and strength to stay on “the way” He has made
for His people. You will resume your journey. This is a wonderful way to live.
God wants us to experience His loving care while we work through all that comes
to us throughout our days. Each
of us will have opportunities to share our faith which ministers to others. In “the next chapter” we will live with Him along
with all others who love Him, forever in Heaven. So this life is a time of
learning—and the next life is a glorious ongoing reward for all who love and
serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
